TUBBATAHA LIVEABOARD: 23 - 29 Apr 2012Following the success of the 2011 trips to Tubbataha, we are planning another liveaboard to this fantastic location for 2012. Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rises from the volcanic depths of the Sulu Sea in the western Philippines. Colorful reef fish crowd corals growing in the shallows while sharks, turtles and pelagics haunt the steep drop offs to the open sea. Please register your interest with us (prior to the end of January is recommended due to limited spaces available): contact us about Tubbataha April 2012.

PROTECT SHARKS, PROTECT THE OCEAN
In the last 6 months since World Oceans Day, Calypso Diving has raised $1300 for Project AWARE Shark Protection projects. Thanks to all our divers, because the more you dive, the more we donate!
NEW AWARE SHARK CONSERVATION SPECIALTY Sharks are crucial to marine ecosystems. They maintain a balance in populations of prey species and keep the ocean healthy by removing ill or diseased animals. They are an important resource supporting local economies, for example as an attraction to dive tourists. But sharks are in a global decline. Overfishing has reduced many shark populations around the world to levels that threaten their continued existence. There are many actions needed to address these issues. The AWARE Shark Conservation Diver course will contribute towards the conservation of sharks by building awareness of the issues and inspiring divers to speak up and act to protect sharks. This Distinctive Specialty is also available as part of the Diamond ENVIRONMENT combination, ideal for divers interested in becoming PADI Master Scuba Diver.
